Dear Riverbend Families,
We hope that the school year is off to a great start for your family! There is a lot of excitement around campus this fall with the Tavern construction coming along smoothly, new materials engaging our children in the classrooms and specialty rooms, a new Learning Center, and classroom potlucks just around the corner. There is also some uncertainty this fall, with the school year starting so soon after Dr. Price’s departure. Over the past few weeks, the Board of Directors has been in close communication with the senior administration team of Michele McKenna, Lynn Shevory, and Donna Volpe Strouse and we’ve begun what will be a series of listening hours with the faculty to understand their hopes, concerns, and ideas for the coming year, including interim and long-term leadership plans.
We now want to open our ears to all parent hopes, concerns, and ideas as well. As a start, the Board invites you to stop by for coffee immediately after drop-off from 8:00-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26th and Friday, September 29th. Chris Suraci, our Chairman of the Board of Directors will be in attendance along with several other board members. We will gather in Memorial Hall and you may park in the field next to the Tavern construction site.
We also invite you to stop by our booth at the upcoming Riverbend Fall Festival on October 21st. We will be hosting a table where parents and children can paint “Riverbend Rocks!” Kindness Rocks, while also answering any of your questions.
While change can be tumultuous, we deeply believe in our school, and we have never been more impressed with our teachers and staff for pulling together to get the year off to a positive, forward-looking start.
