The Upper School musicians started the year with a piece from “Hot Marimba”
These pieces served as a vehicle for reminding students about basic music theory knowledge. We dusted of the rust and remembered the note names and rhythms as well as symbols like the staff and clefs. These small musical “cells” gave us plenty of room to develop a form and allowed the group to make music together. In addition to the xylophones and metalaphones, students added parts on guitar, bass, piano, and percussion.
