I was terribly saddened to learn of yesterday’s news regarding the hate crimes perpetrated against eight members of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in Georgia. What we know is that the victims of these terrible acts were targeted because of their race and ethnicity, details that only further illuminate the rise in violence against the AAPI community.

Riverbend School condemns this and all acts of racism, discrimination, oppression, and bigotry, and we join the world in mourning these tragedies.  We ask that members of our community join us in offering support to our AAPI community members, both at Riverbend and beyond, by taking a stand and committing to eradicating hate in all forms.

If any member of our community is seeking resources or support during this time, please reach out—we are here to support you.

We have faith that we can prosper in peace, and are committed to teaching our students to uplift one another and stand for equality and justice.  Let us move forward together to make sure everyone in our AAPI community feels safe and supported during this time.
