Student preparing for Rivertopia
Student preparing for Rivertopia

On April 13, Upper School students will host Lower and Upper Elementary School families for Rivertopia. The event focuses on five key “powers”: solar, food, design, people, and nature. Visitors will watch science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics come to life in the form of posters, slide shows, videos, exhibits, and much more.

  • Do you know how photosynthesis works? Spiderman explains it all in an exciting stop motion video!
  • Feeling old? You’ll feel like a spring chicken after meeting the oldest tree on campus!
  • What’s the difference between a tortoise and a turtle? Fred, our very special talking tortoise, will reveal the answers!
  • Think you know what the continents really look like? Visit the newest, most accurate map ever created to test your knowledge!
  • How do gas, hybrid and electric vehicles work? Explore our three demo vehicles!
  • Curious about what it means to be vegan? Watch a slideshow to learn more!

You’ll leave Rivertopia knowing how to answer these questions:

  • How far does our community drive to and from school each year?
  • Who is Greta Thunberg?
  • What is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch?
  • How does a solar panel work?
  • Where are the best places to hike in MA?
  • How many blades of grass live in Rivertopia’s soccer field?
  • What, exactly, is pollution?
  • Which species are endangered, where do they live, and how can we help?
  • Which countries consume the most energy?
  • Where does vanilla come from?

At Rivertopia, you can:

  • Build boats from recycled materials then test them in a water-filled kiddie pool
