Community Learning Series: Childhood 2.0: How to Reach, Teach, and Support iGeneration Students

March 7 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Register here.

It is imperative that trusted adults and caregivers recognize that childhood has drastically changed with the advent of the smartphone and other devices and video games we hand our children. The race for academic performance, athletic prowess, bullying on social media/gaming platforms and the increase in youth mental health issues such as anxiety and depression must be met with a call to action that includes front loading them with prevention and resiliency training to confront these challenging times. This session will include strategies and tips to keep your children safe on the internet and to support them both academically and emotionally.

Katey‘s educational career focus is on student and teacher social-emotional needs and wellness, youth mental health initiatives, and digital citizenship/social media responsibility.  Co-author of a book for parents that has received local and national attention, titled, “Why Teens Fail – What To Fix,” Ms. McPherson has been an educator for 29 years, serving as a middle and high school teacher, guidance counselor, and K-12 Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal.  She is the proud Director of Community Partnerships for Bark for Families.
