Liv brings over 20 years of experience in education, having worked with children in Vermont, New Jersey, New York, Austria, Bosnia, Mozambique, and Sweden. She shares her expertise in language acquisition, curriculum development, and the arts (dance, music and theater) to create nuanced and rich learning environments.
Liv is passionate about curating a classroom environment, especially sourcing materials, that is authentic, inviting, creative, and comforting. She presents materials in a way that allows a child’s own knowledge and creativity to shine.
Whether teaching culture studies or compositional improvisation, Liv’s intuitive teaching approach focuses on the quality of learning opportunities, and the big picture educational experience. “Think contexts, relationships, agency, motivation, and identity,” she says. “Play is the work of childhood, and I also find it the deepest form of true learning and living.” Liv speaks German, Swedish, and “a little of a lot of” other languages. She enjoys sharing her love of international travel with her two school-aged children.
