Katie was a principal at the Cambridgeport School in Cambridge for 10 years. During Katie’s ten year tenure as a principal in Cambridge, she led a number of initiatives aimed at expanding diversity, addressing equity, and championing inclusion. She led a curriculum review and revitalization aimed at bringing a DEI lens to project based learning experiences. She engaged faculty and staff by creating an Equity Leadership Team to examine the barriers to success experienced by historically marginalized groups at the school, and she introduced Community Conversations about Racism as a facilitated forum for faculty and staff, alongside families and caregivers, to understand and address systemic racism. Most recently she was the Head of Lower School at the Fessenden School in Newton. Katie started her teaching career in a multi-age classroom, teaching a combined third and fourth grade as well as a combined fifth and sixth grade.
