Open Classroom
Riverbend hosts Open Classrooms throughout the year to provide families with the opportunity to witness firsthand the independence and engagement that defines Montessori education. Students love showing their parents and caregivers what they’re doing in school!

One of the most remarkable and inspiring aspects of a child’s experience at Riverbend is the profound sense of independence and ownership they develop over their learning. To truly appreciate the beauty of this autonomy, it must be seen in action.
At Riverbend, we are deeply committed to building meaningful partnerships with families throughout every stage of their child’s growth. Several times throughout the year, all of our students from Toddler through Eighth Grade welcome their families to an Open Classroom event.
About Open Classroom
During Open Classroom days, families are welcomed into the classroom to begin the day alongside their child. This special time allows children to proudly showcase the work they’ve been doing and share insights into what they’ve been learning.
Depending on the child’s age, families may actively participate in the learning process or simply observe as their child takes the lead. We also encourage families to engage with other students, exploring the broader learning community and discovering the exciting projects and ideas being worked on throughout the classroom.
Primary, Elementary, and Middle School families are invited to join administrators for coffee immediately following Open Classroom. There will be a brief presentation on a specific topic of interest, and families can ask questions and learn more about the purpose behind what they’ve seen in Open Classroom.
Check the Riverbend Calendar for this year’s date, time, and registration information (if applicable).
