Riverbend Book Fair
The Riverbend Book Fair is an annual event where students can shop for their new favorite book right here at school! Hosted by the Riverbend Parents Association in conjunction with Wellesley Books, this special event celebrates a love of reading. A portion of the proceeds supports programming at Riverbend.

Each fall, Riverbend students embrace their love of reading with a book fair! They get to experience the delight of a pop-up bookstore right here on Riverbend’s campus, complete with books, puzzles, and gifts carefully curated by Wellesley Books for our community.
This celebration of reading supports Riverbend in several ways. A portion of the proceeds go back to the school, supporting community-building initiatives such as Fall Festival, Riverbend GIVES (our day of service), teacher appreciation, and family socials. The fair also includes a “Faculty Wish List” section, giving families the chance to purchase books and materials for classrooms.
Riverbend Book Fair Details
Preview: Before the book fair officially begins, students in grades K-8 preview the fair with their classes and fill out a wishlist that they can bring home to discuss with their families. They also get a special surprise: each student in these grades gets to choose one book to take home – a gift from the Parents Association to these young readers! Middle schoolers help their kindergarten friends pick out their book and fill out their wishlists.
Younger Students: While our Toddler, Primary 1, and Primary 2 students do not attend the fair with their classes, they’re encouraged to come with their families to shop. There are lots of board books and picture books just for them!
Purchasing Details: To avoid having children bring money to school, all purchasing happens before school, after school, and on both days of conferences.
Location: The book fair takes place on the first floor of our middle school building – the house across the parking lot from the LE/Art building. Signs are posted to help guide families to the fair.
Partnering with Wellesley Books: During the book fair dates, purchases made at Wellesley Books can benefit Riverbend. Be sure to bring the voucher (which will be sent home) to show at the register – or, if you forget to bring it along, please let the cashier know you are shopping as part of the Riverbend School Book Fair. You can also shop online at Wellesley Books during the book fair dates, and any purchases made will benefit the school. Put “Riverbend School Book Fair” in the comment section on the checkout page.
Volunteers: We need parent volunteers to make this exciting event run smoothly! Shifts are available for set up, clean up, and book fair sales. Various time slots and roles are available. No training or prep work is necessary – just sign up, show up, and have a lot of fun!
